Burdwan (WB): Four policemen were seriously injured on Friday while trying to diffuse crude bombs found in restive Mangalkot area of Burdwan district where turf war resumed in the morning, police said.
Sub-inspector Binoy De and three constables of Mangalkot police station sustained splinter injuries when they were trying to diffuse bombs seized from the house of a local Trinamool Congress worker Amir Sheikh in Banpara village.
The injured policemen were hospitalised.
CPI(M) activists allegedly attacked villages like Banpara and Mathpara in Mangalkot area in the morning while Trinamool Congress workers resisted them, local people said adding that bombs were used by both sides.
During a raid in the afternoon, the police caught two Trinamool workers red handed while they were throwing bombs and seized 16 bags containing bombs from Amir’s house.
Local Trinamool leaders alleged that Amir was framed, while CPI(M) leaders claimed the bombs were stockpiled by the Opposition party to create terror.
