DEHRA DUN: Five Char Dham pilgrims from Gujarat were killed and about 35 others injured when the ill fated bus they were travelling in from Hardwar to Mussoorie slipped off the hill side at Bhatta village near Mussoorie in the wee hours of Sunday.

All the victims were from Chalachala village in Amreli district of Gujarat.

The injured have been rushed to the hospitals at Mussoorie and Dehra Dun, the State Disaster Mitigation and Management Centre here said. Three of the victims were discharged after first aid. They had hired the bus from their native district, it was told.

Expressing grief over the mishap, the Uttarakhand Chief Minister B.C. Khanduri announced an ex gratia relief of Rs 50,000 to the next of kin of those killed, Rs 20,000 to the seriously injured and Rs 5000 for those with minor injuries.
