Five Maoists surrender

Five Maoists, including Bandarapu Mallaiah, Divisional Committee Secretary (South Division), Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, and his wife Balavva, District Committee Member (South Division), Gadchiroli, surrendered before Superintendent of Police P. Hari Kumar at Kothagudem on Monday.

Dalam members N.Ramana and G.Ramesh alias Ravi besides, Maitha Militia Commander, Chhattisgarh, P.Raju alias Iramaiah were the others, who surrendered. Ten Maoist militia members belonging to Venkatapuram, Charla and Dummugudem mandals also gave themselves up. Chandranna, who is also the West Regional Committee member of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) of the CPI (Maoist), had been evading police for nearly 25 years.

Chandranna and Vijaya, who also hails from Karimnagar district, cited failing health as the reason for their surrender. Kothagudem OSD T.Srinivasa Rao, ASP Bhaskar Bhushan, and Bhadrachalam ASP Gajarao Bhupal were present.
