The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike on Monday served a notice on a private company for encroaching a raja kaluve. The encroachment caused inundation of houses in Deepa Nursing Home Extension in Maratahalli, a press release said.
Divyasri Infrastructure Private Limited in Yamalur, coming under BBMP's Mahadevapura zone, was served the notice and fined Rs. 30 lakh for causing damages to the houses.
According to the press release from the civic body, the company had put up RCC pipes across the raja kaluve and filled it with mud to facilitate movement of its vehicle and employees.
This had blocked the free flow of rain water in the raja kaluve, which caused the flooding in Deepa Nursing Home extension. Based on the residents' complaints, the zonal Joint Commissioner and his team visited the spot and noticed the encroachment.
The BBMP would initiate action against the company, as per norms, if the company fails to pay the fine, the release added.
