Fire in pharma unit, 3 injured

Three workers of Aurobindo Pharma were critically injured when a major fire broke out at the plant in the early hours of Monday. According to sources, the fire was caused by an explosion in G-block at 5.10 a.m. due to high pressure in vacuum dryer. Korrutu Ramappadu (35) of Pusapati Rega mandal and Mohan Naik (50), of Ganjam district of Orissa suffered more than 90 per cent burn injuries. Chemist Mogadala Veerraju (33) of Kalavacharla of Gurla Mandal, Viziangaram, district suffered 85 per cent burns.

The injured were rushed to a corporate hospital in Visakhapatnam where their condition was stated to be critical.

CITU Ranasthalm unit leader P. Tejeswara Rao demanded that the management bear the cost of treatment of the injured.
