Six employees were seriously injured when a fire broke out in a plant of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) at Sunabeda in Odisha’s Koraput district on Saturday.

The fire broke out in the compressor shop of the high-security plant, Manager (Industrial Relations) of the HAL unit S.K. Rout said.

He said the injured persons were admitted with burns at a hospital in Visakhapatnam. All of them were stated to be stable.

Mr. Rout sought to correct an earlier report which said that one of the six persons had died on the way to Visakhapatnam. The injured employees, including one engaged on contract, were initially admitted to the HAL Hospital.

The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes before it could spread to other areas. — PTI
