Hundreds of Pattali Makkal Katchi supporters, led by former MLA and party functionary Senthamil Selvan, besieged the Olakkur police station near Tindivanam on Thursday, urging the Station Officer to withdraw the “false case” filed by an Assistant Professor against party founder S.Ramadoss and two others.
They also sought unconditional apology from Tindivanam Deputy Superintendent of Police S. Kuppuswamy for having entertained a motivated complaint without verifying the facts and following due process of law.
They alleged that the complainant had an ulterior motive to tarnish the image of Dr Ramadoss and said his name was dragged in on a non issue. As they refused to budge from the place until suitable action was taken against the persons concerned, a strong police force was moved in.
Subsequently, Villupuram DSP Sekar moderated and gave an assurance that an investigation would be carried out within two days to arrive at the truth. However, the PMK men were insistent that action must be taken in a day failing which a State-wide agitation would break out.
Later, they dispersed.
Meanwhile, an official and a student of Vanniyar Educational Trust-run Saraswathi Arts and Science College at Konerikuppam, near Tindivanam, have lodged counter complaints against the Asst. Professor on Thursday.
Pachagounder, a final year undergraduate student (computer science), in his complaint stated that Assistant Professor Aranga Mayakrishnan (30) of History Department, a native of Olliyampalayam near Ulundurpet, (who filed the complaint) was provoking the students and causing a rift among them.
