Report says Ninama has over-spent during his campaign
Expenditure Observers of the Election Commission have recommended disqualification of BJP MP from Banswara Maanshankar Ninama for over-spending during his election campaign.
Janardan S and Munesh Kumar, in their June 21 report to the Returning Officer (District Collector), said Mr. Ninama had not adhered to the expenditure limit stipulated by the Commission and incurred huge expenditure at a rally addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 12. Recommending Mr. Ninama’s disqualification under Section 10 A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 for failing to maintain proper accounts and 171 (I) of the IPC for non-maintenance of day-to-day record, the observers said Mr. Ninama’s poll expenditure was over Rs. 75 lakh, Rs. 5 lakh more than the limit fixed by the EC. The report found major differences in the assessment made by the observers on expenditure incurred on hiring of vehicles, distribution of food and security charges and those shown by the candidate in his accounts.
