The district TDP is gearing up for yet another tour of party president N. Chandrababu Naidu from September 1, which has the issue of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh as its single-point agenda.
His tour by bus, which has been named ‘Atma Gaurava Yatra’, is most likely to begin at Pondugula village near Dachepalli and cover five Assembly constituencies — Gurazala, Mangalagiri, Pedakurapadu, Sattenapalli, and Tadikonda — in just over a week.
Party district president and Chilakaluripet MLA Pratthipati Pulla Rao called for a general body meeting on August 30 to finalise the route map and discuss other related issues.
TDP Polit Bureau member and MLC Yanamala Ramakrishnudu will be participating as chief guest in it.
The yatra is at a time when the Seemandhra region is witnessing a wave of protests against bifurcation of the State and political parties are indulging in the usual blame-game that is threatening to spell doom for them in the general elections.
Mr. Chandrababu Naidu will be obviously training his guns on the Congress and the YSR Congress, accusing them of implementing a secret pact in their mutual interest while pretending to be fighting for unified State.
He will be hard pressed to rebut the allegations that the TDP is the main culprit in the entire episode.
The glaring contradiction between the stand taken by Mr. Naidu (on Telangana Statehood issue) and protests by MPs, MLCs, and MLAs of his party in the Seemandhra region is going to be a major irritant for the party in the run-up to 2014 elections.
