The former Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal, on Tuesday wrote to Governor Urmila Singh asking her to order an enquiry by the Chief Justice of the High Court into the Congress ‘charge sheet’ against the ‘misdeeds’ of the previous BJP government in the State.
In the letter, a copy of which was released to the media, Mr. Dhumal said the Congress was running a malicious campaign against the previous government.
With the by-election to the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency round the corner — wife of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh is the Congress candidate — the ruling dispensation has raised the ‘charge sheet’ issue again.
The Leader of the Opposition requested the Governor to direct the government to bring out the truth and punish the guilty.
BJP spokesperson Ganesh Dutt said the Congress had not been able to implicate any BJP leader on any charge.
