Clearing up of hundreds of tonnes of debris in the disaster-hit Kedarnath area would be taken up after the Dushera festival next month, Uttarkhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said here on Wednesday.

He said damaged buildings in Kedarnath would be demolished simultaneously. He expressed hope that the clearing up of debris would pick up momentum as soon as monsoon ends.

The Chief Secretary had made an inspection and suggested some more repair works to make the path to Kedarnath safe for pilgrims, Mr. Bahuguna said.

A bailey bridge was being built at the shrine as part of the efforts to resume pilgrimage next month.
