Senior BJP leader and former State unit president Bandaru Dattatreya has alleged that Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan was acting as an “extra-Constitutional authority” and demanded that President Pratibha Patil recall him.

At a press conference here on Sunday, he charged the Governor with interfering “undemocratically” in day-to-day affairs and acting as an ‘agent' of the ruling party. He also questioned the propriety of the Governor in meeting AICC president Sonia Gandhi and other core committee members of the Congress. Alleging that the Governor was against the formation of Telangana from the beginning, he accused him of sending reports without any basis to the Central Government. Claiming that Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy was giving false statements on the happenings in Osmania University campus, he demanded her to allow an all party delegation to visit the campus.

‘Mulaakat' programme

T. Rajeshwar Rao, chairman of the party's Telangana Udyama committee, said the party would organise a programme called ‘ Mulaakat' from January 11 to 16 when BJP workers would visit the residences of Congress leaders and urge them to exert pressure on the Centre to introduce a Bill in the coming Parliament session on creation of separate Telangana.
