Centre to take care of irrigation, drinking water needs of six districts: Narayana

The CPI will bring together all like-minded organisations to secure a handsome package from the Centre for Seemandhra and for firm allocation of Krishna water for the projects in Rayalaseema as also Potti Sriramulu Nellore and Prakasam districts designed using surplus waters.

CPI State Secretary K.Narayana told a press conference here that the party would hold a series of meetings starting with the maiden meet in Kadapa on December 15 to impress upon the Centre to take care of irrigation and drinking water needs of the six districts, including Anantapur, Kurnool, Chittoor and Kadapa in Rayalaseema, while dividing the State.

Opposing any move to form Rayal-Telangana, he said his party was also against demerging Bhadrachalam from Telangana.

The Centre should hasten the process of formation of Telangana State with 10 districts including Hyderabad, instead of complicating the issue further.

There should be no problem in taking up the Polavaram project since the Centre planned to take it up as a national project, he said.
