Failure to implement salary hike of pre-primary teachers, Ayahs
A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Friday restrained the Education Secretary, all gazetted officers in the Education Department and the Director of Public Instructions from drawing their salaries till the court directive to give hike in salaries of pre-primary teachers and Ayahs are complied with.
The Bench comprising Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice B.P. Roy issued the directive when the petition filed by N.J. Shaly and three other pre-primary teachers came up for hearing. The court had directed the General Education Secretary to pay a monthly salary of Rs.5,000 and Rs.3,500 to pre-primary teachers and Ayahs respectably working in government pre-primary schools. The court warned that this interdiction might be made applicable to other departments concerned if the implementation was delayed.
