Balakishan, a police constable, was killed in a road accident late on Friday night at Alladurg mandal headquarters in Medak district.

Balakishan, along with assistant sub-inspector Shabuddin, had gone to the sub-station for making security arrangements as the farmers were staging a protest during the night demanding adequate power supply.

While crossing the road, the constable was hit by an unidentified vehicle. Balakishan’s head was severed as the vehicle was travelling at high speed. The Alladurg police have registered a case.

Officials locked up

In another incident, farmers of Rudraram village in Mirdoddi mandal locked up the Power Department officials who visited the village for bill collection.

Alleging that the power was not being supplied even for two hours a day, they said that their crops were drying up due to lack of water.

The police rushed to the village and got the officials released.

Urea supply

At Siddipet also, the farmers held a dharna demanding supply of urea.

As much as 34 tonnes of urea had arrived at the market yard and it was distributed to the farmers.

However, a large number of farmers were annoyed when they did not get urea.

Finally, the farmers withdrew their agitation after agriculture officers promised to issue tokens and supply urea.
