The Directorate General of Shipping has directed the Chennai Port Trust (ChPT) to berth MT Pratibha Cauvery in one of its berths subject to certain conditions.

The directive sent on Saturday has asked the vessel owner to fulfil some eight conditions that are mandatory for a ship to enter a port. Currently, the ship is in outer anchorage being held by a tow boat as it had lost both of its anchors on October 31 due to gusty winds caused by cyclone Nilam.

ChPT officials said they were willing to allow the vessel for berthing provided the owners paid the requisite berthing charges and got the documents validated.
