Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner Siddaiah has announced Rs. 1-crore worth of development work for the improvement of Ulsoor Lake. Carrying out an inspection in areas around the lake in the eastern part of the city on Saturday, Mr. Siddaiah said steps would be taken to prevent the inflow of sewage into it.
He directed the chief engineer to take steps to remove weeds from around the lake, repair the toilets and the walking paths, improve security and use organic solutions to dispel the odour emanating from the lake.
On hearing complaints about the menace of stray cattle and dogs on Osborne Road, the Commissioner directed officials of the Animal Husbandry Department to take action immediately.
He visited Coles Park and gave the officials a week to act on complaints of stray dog menace and allegations of usage of intoxicants by miscreants in the park premises.
He also visited areas in Indiranagar, Kamraj Road, Jayanagar, Shantinagar and suggested that around five lakh rainwater collection pits be created in parks, along roadsides and playgrounds in the city.
