Minister for Housing and district in-charge V. Somanna announced that Karnataka Housing Board will build a commercial complex at a cost of Rs. 20 crore at Channapatna extension in Hassan town. The construction will be completed by August 2013.
He was addressing the gathering at the the 63rd Republic Day celebrations in Hassan on Thursday after hoisting the national flag.
Mr. Somanna said six taluks had been declared drought-hit and the district administration was preparing an Rs. 36-crore action plan for drought-hit taluks.
Reserve Police Inspector Hemanth Kumar led the parade consisting of 29 platoons.
Mr. Somanna felicitated NCC cadet Shashirekha, KSRTC driver H.S. Narayana, municipality worker Devaraju, medical officer B.R. Yuvaraj and autorickshaw driver S.R. Narasimha Prasad.
