Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary Pannian Ravindran has said that the Advocate-General’s submission before the High Court that the police had questioned Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in connection with the solar scam showed that Mr. Chandy’s statements on the issue so far were all a ‘lie’.

Mr. Ravindran told a news conference here on Wednesday that the Chief Minister had no right to remain in office now that he had been questioned by the solar scam special investigation team, the first instance of a Chief Minister of the State being questioned in a criminal case.

The CPI State secretary accused the government of laxity in securing the services of a sitting judge to probe the scam.
