There was an air of bonhomie with a former Mayor, a couple of deputy Mayors and several corporators exchanging sweets at the City Congress office, the Andhra Ratna Bhavan, after reports of the Justice Srikrishna Committee recommendations reached here on Thursday.

Congress city president Pyla Sominaidu, former Mayor Mallika Begum, former deputy Mayors Samanthapudi Narasaraju and several corporators and party leaders hailed the report.

The State and district units of the Samaikyandhra Samrakshana Samithi in a statement welcomed the report as it was in favour of a united State. “The report made it very clear that Telangana was not a backward region. It also made it clear that the only way for the State of Andhra Pradesh to develop was by remaining united.”

TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswa Rao at a press conference demanded that the Congress-led UPA government make its stance clear now. The Congress was creating confusion among the people through the report, he alleged.

Samaikyandhra JAC Krishna district convenor Kolanukonda Sivaji thanked all the leaders and elected representatives who worked hard to prevail upon the Srikrishna Committee.

BC leader G. Gangadhar lauded the “thorough job” the committee had done .
