The CBI on Thursday inspected Associated Mining Company (AMC) and Deccan Mining Syndicate (DMS) in Ramgad mining area in Sandur taluk in connection with its ongoing probe into illegal mining in Karnataka.

A five-member team, headed by CBI Superintendent of Police Subramanyeshwar Rao, armed with samples of the iron ore from Belekeri port, compared it with the iron ore in AMC and DMS mining areas, CBI sources said. The CBI is being assisted by experts from the Mines and Geology Department, sources said.

The AMC and DMS, owned by the former Minister G. Janardhan Reddy and his wife Aruna Lakshmi, are being probed for alleged illegal mining activities following a Supreme Court directive.
