The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved the construction of the second vehicle assembly building at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, which is estimated to cost Rs. 363.95 crore, a press release said. The decision will help enhance the launch frequencies of the PSLV and the GSLV rockets by facilitating parallel integration operations. It will also provide redundancy for the existing vehicle assembly building for integration of GSLV Mark III and act as a prime integration facility for the third launch pad and future general launch vehicles.
Announcing the decision, an official press release said the second vehicle assembly building is targeted for realisation within 42 months.
