The Yadagirigutta police on Thursday registered a case of suspicious death after a nine-old-boy, Kumar, died while undergoing treatment at the local government hospital, after a dismissed RTC driver Kota Shankar allegedly administered a drink mixed with poison.

According to Bhongir DSP Srinivas, the motive for the offence by Shankar was the reluctance of his ‘second wife' Lakshmi to end their ‘illegal intimacy'.

Shankar had reportedly offered to pay Rs.1 lakh to her, but she did not agree.

In retaliation, he is alleged to have to resorted to the act. The couple has a seven-year-old daughter. The DSP said the case would be altered after the post-mortem.
