Tension prevailed in the area surrounding a Metro railway station in the Kudghat area in the southern part of Kolkata on Friday after people noticed orange vapour emanating from a contraption placed inside a basket.
The basket was found by the side of a canal near the Netaji Metro Station, said Pratyaush Ghosh, public relations officer of the Metro Railway. “It was 9.28 a.m. when the smoke was first seen. We informed the police and the bomb squad was rushed to the spot.”
Metro services were disrupted for about 20 minutes after the police asked the authorities to suspend the running of trains.
