Says the issue is complicated and needs extensive discussions
The Bharatiya Janata Party has reiterated that it would not support the Centre’s move to bring a constitutional amendment Bill on the land boundary agreement with Bangladesh in the winter session of Parliament, beginning Thursday.
Senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday said the issue was complicated and need extensive discussions.
“It is a complicated, emotional and sensitive issue and we want that all stakeholders — Assam and West Bengal — must be included in consultations,” he said.
The issue of whether the BJP will agree with the government’s decision on the agreement also came up for discussion at the BJP’s parliamentary party executive on Wednesday and later with its National Democratic Alliance partners.
