Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah said on Thursday that instead of giving priority to tackling the drought affecting 123 taluks in the State, the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were busy in their internal squabbles.

Addressing mediapersons here, Mr. Siddaramaiah said that the State Government had admitted that this was the severest drought since 1971. But it had not taken any steps to help the people in these taluks.

No arrangements had been made to provide fodder in the taluks, except for Chitradurga district, where five cattle centres (goshalas) had been opened, he said.
