The BJP on Friday appealed to the Election Commission to debar Unique Identification Authority of India chairman Nandan Nilekani from contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Bangalore South for alleged violation of model code of conduct.

The BJP filed a complaint before the State Chief Electoral Officer in Bangalore, accusing Mr. Nilekani, who is set to fielded by the Congress in Bangalore South of issuing media advertisements as the UIDAI chief about his achievements.
