Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar launched the online biometric registration system of all ayurveda and Unani doctors in the State here on Friday.

The main objective of the system, an initiative of the Karnataka Ayurveda and Unani Practitioners Board, is to keep tabs on quacks who masquerade as traditional healers. Commending the initiative, Mr. Shettar said the government would extend complete support for the development of the Ayush system of medicine. The website, www.kaupboard.karnataka.gov.in, will have the names and registration number of 34,000-odd registered ayurveda and Unani practitioners.
