The centuries-old Baijnath Temple in Kangra, which has been declared a protected monument by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI), has a leaky roof despite the High Court’s intervention two years ago. The roof of the Shiva temple, which was damaged in a devastating earthquake in Kangra in April 1905 and repaired by Raja Sansar Chand of Katoch dynasty, started leaking two years ago. However, nothing has been done to plug the leakages which have increased due to excessive rains this year. “The ASI seems to be in no hurry to take up restoration work,” Uma Kant, priest of the temple, said. — PTI
