Automated illumination for Mysore Palace?

A team of electrical engineers is working on a proposal to introduce an automated system to for illuminating the Amba Vilas Palace (Mysore Palace).

The palace, built in Indo-Sarcenic style, is usually illuminated by one lakh bulbs which are switched on at the touch of a single button.

In order to save energy and money and using modern technology, engineers have tried to build in new features into the system.

The proposed project developed by Dr. Anantha Padmanabha from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, aims to spectacularly illuminate the palace with 172 different lighting patterns. —Shankar Bennur
