Additional District Judge ordered attachment of computers and air-conditioners in the Gajuwaka Police Station near here after a daily labourer, who was injured in an accident involving a police vehicle, was not paid compensation as ordered by the court. Twenty six years old D. Ramu was when a police vehicle knocked him dowon December 31, 2006.
The victim incurred an expenditure of Rs. 1.5 lakh for his treatment and filed a motor vehicle accident insurance claim making the Inspector of Gajuwaka, City Commissioner of Police, the Principal Secretary (Home) and the Additional DGP (transport) as the parties.
However, none of the officers attended the court and the Judge K. Chidananda, after conducting an inquiry, delivered his judgement on November 3, 2010 directing the police to pay compensation within 30 days.As there was no response from the police officials, the victim's advocate Golagani Appa Rao filed an execution petition and the Judge passed the attachment order. The police station was served the warrant on Monday.
