The Assembly on Tuesday passed six other Bills without much discussion. These include two amending the AP Value Added Tax Act-2005 for reducing VAT on petrol from the existing 33 per cent to 31 per cent, exempting the sales of fertilizers by Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies to farmers from the VAT net and rationalising VAT on several items. Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy said the reduction VAT on petrol and exemption of sale of fertilizers by PACS were already being implemented by issuing GOs. The two were causing a revenue loss of Rs. 160 crore and Rs. 2 crore, respectively per annum. - Special Correspondent
