Barring the incident of assault of an Estate Officer of Rythu Bazaar at R&B Guest House by the ASP, the strife-torn Fort Town remained peaceful on Wednesday. Collector Kantilal Dande, who visited vantage points in the town, has further relaxed curfew from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday.
Mr. Satish told The Hindu that the ASP had come to the bazaar at 6.20 a.m. while he was fixing rates for vegetables and asked him to open the gate. “I showed him the curfew pass which the Collector issued, but the ASP hit me with a lathi and made me sit on the floor for 30 minutes. He treated me as if I am a thug or terrorist,” he lamented.
