NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday condemned the murder of the party’s tribal leader, Ananda Masihoro, in the Sundargarh district of Orissa by Maoists.

In a statement, the Polit Bureau said Masihoro’s killing and violence against poor tribals by the Maoists reflected their bankrupt policies.

Referring to the murder of another CPI(M) tribal leader in the area earlier and attacks on party offices, the Polit Bureau said the Centre should deploy adequate forces in the border areas of the affected States in coordination with State governments.
