CHANDIGARH: The Punjab andHaryana High Court will hearthe anticipatory bail plea ofthe former Haryana DGP,S.P.S. Rathore, in connectionwith the fresh cases registeredagainst him, onTuesday.

On Monday, Justice Sabinalisted Rathore's petition forhearing on Tuesday, withoutgranting him any interim reliefagainst arrest. Rathore'swife Abha Rathore moved theHigh Court challenging theSessions Court order that deniedanticipatory bail toRathore in relation to twofresh FIRs that levelled seriouscriminal charges againsthim in the molestation case ofa school girl.

She also petitioned theHigh Court seeking thequashing of the third FIRwhich mentioned the chargeof abetment to suicide of thegirl molested.

Arguing the case, Mrs.Rathore said the police registeredthe fresh FIRs due tomedia pressure. "Media hastaken everything in theirhands and they are runningtheir own trial in this case,"she said.

She pleaded that Rathorebe granted anticipatory bail ashe underwent a heart surgeryin 2007 and gave assurancethat he would join the investigations."We have alwaysmaintained that we are readyto join the investigations atany time."

Two new FIRs were registeredagainst Rathore on December29, listing charges ofattempt to murder, criminalintimidation, forging evidence,wrongful confinement,fabricating false evidence andcriminal conspiracy.
