The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday disposed of the public interest litigation (PIL) petition initiated suo motu by it on the murder of S.P. Mahantesh, Deputy Director of Cooperative Audit.
The court disposed of the petition after the police submitted a copy of the charge sheet filed by them before the jurisdictional court.
Charge sheet details
The police stated in the charge sheet that A.S. Kiran Kumar, who was a cashier with the Sahakaranagar Credit Cooperative Society, was the prime accused. Kiran Kumar had misappropriated society’s funds. The charge sheet said that Kiran, with the help of Ayappa, Murali and Shivakumar, allegedly got Mahantesh killed fearing that audit of the society’s accounts undertaken by Mahantesh would throw light on misappropriation of funds.
