CPI (M) leader and Kula Vivaksha Porta Samithi (KVPS) State vice- president B.V. Raghavulu demanded that the Cabinet Sub-committee on SC, ST Sub-plan submit its report before August 15.

Speaking at a seminar here on Sunday, Mr. Raghavulu alleged that the Congress was not serious about implementing the proposed Act. “We will be forced to agitate if the Act did not come into force,” he said. He urged the panel headed by Deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Rajanarasimha to submit the report at the earliest.

Stating that the government had failed to allocate special budget for SCs and STs as per constitutional guidelines, he said that so far Rs. 26,406 crores meant for the welfare of Dalits were diverted by the State government.

Mr. Raghavulu said that the CPI (M) would launch an agitation if the government fails to release fee reimbursement amount for SC, ST students.
