Man injured in bear attack

A 45-year-old tribal man was attacked by a pair of bears near Garepentagudem in Pulalachervu mandal of Prakasam district on Friday.

A. Musalaiah (45) sustains injuries on the scalp and on the back as he made frantic efforts to escape from the grip of the bears.

He, however, managed to escape.

The attack occurred when he was going to Chenchupalem to Garapenta in search of work.

He was rushed to the public health centre here in a 108 vehicle.

M. Srinivasa Rao, senior public health officer here, said Musalaiah would require at least a week’s treatment in hospital.

The incident created panic in tribal hamlets.
