Film producer K. R. Gangadharan, ‘KRG’ to those in the industry, died here on Tuesday. He was 76 and is survived by his wife and a daughter.
Producer of over 60 films in Tamil and Malayalam under the banner ‘KRG productions’, he was known for hits such as Kamal Haasan’s ‘Sigappu Rojakkal’ and Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Johny’.
‘Guru En Aalu’, featuring Madhavan, was his latest production. He founded the Tamil Film Producers’ Council and had a stint as president of the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce.
According to sources, KRG was admitted to a private hospital at T. Nagar recently following a brief illness. He had been responding well to treatment and was about to be discharged on Tuesday. Just as he was about to step out, he collapsed and was declared dead soon after, the sources said.
He is survived by his wife and daughter.
