A year-and-a-half old boy walked to freedom on Monday after spending a year in jail with his mother.

Freedom dawned on the toddler when District and Sessions Judge P.D. Rajan acquitted the 26-year-old woman in a case registered by the Ochira police.

The Judge said the prosecution could not prove the charges.

The woman was a fish-vendor at Ochira and was arrested on May 19, 2011 on charges of being involved in the sexual harassment of a minor girl. The child was six-months old then. The charge was that the woman made it convenient for her brother to harass the minor girl several times. Following arrest, the women was lodged at the Attakulangara Women's Jail in Thiruvananthapuram. Advocate M. Mohammed Humayun appeared for the woman.

Six witnesses were examined in the case, including the doctor who examined the girl. The doctor told the court that the girl was not sexually harassed.

The girl's mother, too, told the court that her daughter was not sexually harassed.
