Dry weather

Heat wave conditions have abated from east Uttar Pradesh.

RAINFALL: Rain/thundershowers have occurred at a few places over Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Weather was dry over the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: JAMMU AND KASHMIR: Gund 1.

MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES: The maximum temperatures rose appreciably Haryana, rose in Punjab, fell appreciably in east Uttar Pradesh, fell in Uttarakhand and changed little elsewhere. They were above normal in Himachal Pradesh, appreciably below normal in Jammu and Kashmir and normal in the rest of the region. The highest maximum temperature in the region was 44.0C recorded at Jhalawar (Rajasthan) and Banda (Uttar Pradesh).

FORECAST VALID UNTIL THE MORNING OF 21st MAY 2012: Rain/thundershowers would occur at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand. Dust storm/thunderstorm may occur at one or two places over the rest of the region outside southeast Rajasthan where weather will be mainly dry. Rise in day temperatures by 01 to 02C over the region.
