The Karnataka State Government Medical Officers' Association has threatened to resign en masse on May 14 in protest against the failure of the State government to concede their demands, which included enhancement of allowances by 50 per cent and their merger with the basic pay and withdrawal of all district hospitals under Medical Education department, among other things.
H.N. Ravindra, president of the Association, told The Hindu here on Wednesday that the doctors were forced to resort to the extreme step as the government had not initiated any step to fulfil their demands. A notice had been given to Principal Secretary,Health and Family Welfare on May 7.
“We had made our point very clear and also about giving en masse resignation during the day-long dharna on April 12. So far the government has not responded to it,” he said.
