New Delhi: Justices Devinder Kumar Jain and Markandey Katju have been sworn in Supreme Court judges. Chief Justice of India Y.K. Sabharwal administered the oath of office at a brief function in the court on Monday.
Before their elevation, Justice Jain and Justice Katju were Chief Justices of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Delhi High Court. With their appointment, the strength of judges in the Supreme Court has gone up to 24 as against the sanctioned strength of 26.
