They were allegedly involved in serving extortion notes

Guwahati: The city police here on Saturday arrested two cadres of the United Liberation Front of Asom and a linkman, suspected to be involved in serving extortion notes and other unlawful activities. A grenade was also recovered from their possession.

The police is interrogating them to find out if they were involved in serving an extortion note to RBI Regional Director Amarendra Sahu.

Additional Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh told The Hindu that the ULFA cadres and the linkman were arrested from Bharalumukh area.

The arrested cadres have been identified as Mantu Bezborua, a resident of Kalitakuchi; and Hajo and Gautom Sarania alias Rahul Deka, residents of Barbari of Baksa. The linkman has been identified as Mintu Das, from Ketpuha of Nalbari, he said.

An extortion note bearing the signature of ULFA leader Hira Sarania was hand delivered to security guards of the RBI colony here on Tuesday.
