New Delhi: Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh said the Department of Commerce has been asked to implement the national e-Governance Plan within a stipulated timeframe across a spectrum of organisations. He said the Directorate General of Supplies and Disposals would be involved.
Addressing a seminar organised by the DGS&D on `National e-Procurement Strategy,' he said a beginning has been made and now, people have to begin implementing e-governance. Mr. Ramesh said the DGS&D, the procurement agency of the government, introduced the system of e-procurement, including electronic tendering, seven months ago.
Mr. Ramesh said that this would have to be replicated in other government procurement organisations and small entities to ensure value for money.
