KOLKATA: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) has rushed relief material and medical team to the Aila-affected areas in Sunderbans. The relief material, worth approximately Rs. 25 lakh, comprises 10,000 litres of packaged drinking water, 2,350 tins of baby food, medicines, oral rehydration solution, disinfectants, water purifying tablets, candles and clothes.

The vehicles carrying the materials were flagged off from the ONGC Complex here, by GM-Support Manager, C.R. Baidya.

Medical camps

The ONGC has tied up with the Red Cross Society of India, Kolkata Chapter, and the East India Medical Club to provide doctors for organising medical camps.

One team of ONGC volunteers and doctors and paramedics from the East India Medical Club will organise camps in North 24 Parganas at Dulduli, Shebkhali, Pachapally, Jogeshganja, Sardara Para, Kalitala, Madhapkathi and Gobindakhati.

The other team of ONGC volunteers and doctors and paramedics from the Red Cross Society will organise medical camps in South 24 Parganas at Kachukhali, Choto Mollakhali, Satjalia, Hetal Bari, Bally –I and Rangaballya, a company release said.

The camps would be conducted for 7-10 days at the various locations. Volunteers would also distribute relief material to the affected people. Another consignment is to be sent on Monday.

The ONGC volunteers as well as doctors would be replaced by a new batch on Monday.
