New Delhi: The Sangeet Natak Akademi, the national academy for music, dance and drama, has selected 33 young artists of India who have made a mark in their respective fields of performing arts for the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2008.
The award, which will be presented at a special ceremony, carries a cash component of Rs. 25,000.
The award, given to artists below the age of 35, was introduced in 2006 with the objective of identifying and encouraging outstanding young talent in diverse fields of performing arts and giving them national recognition early in life.
According to the Academi, the Yuva Puraskar is being given under different categories including music, dance, theatre, traditional folk dance and puppetry. — PTI
