JAIPUR: Rajasthan Governor S. K. Singh has appointed Furqan Qamar, Professor of management studies at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Rajasthan University. Prof. Qamar is also functioning as Adviser to the Planning Commission here.

Prof. Qamar (49) appointed for a three-year term on the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor Selection Committee, replaces Prof. N. K. Jain who was serving on extension till September 30 after his term ended on August 5. He is the youngest person to be appointed the University’s Vice-Chancellor.

25 years’ experience

Prof. Qamar has completed 25 years in teaching and research in India and abroad. As professor at the Centre for Management Studies in Jamia Millia Islamia, he undertook research projects and authored two books and over a dozen research papers published in journals of national and international repute.
