A conference IfraIndia 2007 will also be held
Adobe, Agfa, Fuji Photo, Kodak to take part
CHENNAI: IfraExpo India 2007, the first international exhibition on trends and practices in the printing and publishing industry, will be held at the Chennai Trade Centre from September 4 to 6.
It is being organised by Ifra India and co-sponsored by the Indian Newspaper Society.
The expo will be inaugurated by Ifra Germany chief executive officer Reiner Mittelbach.
650 delegates to attend
Concurrently, IfraIndia 2007, the 15th annual conference, will focus on the challenges faced by the publishing industry.
Around 650 delegates have confirmed their participation in the conference.
The keynote address to be delivered by president and chief executive officer of Schibsted, Norway, Kjell Aamot would focus on publishing houses as content providers to consumers and advertisers.
Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, Ifra India Managing Director R.V. Rajan said the conference would dwell on subjects such as branding, new products and advertising and also look at issues affecting the production of the daily newspaper such as industrialised production and quality in newspaper printing.
“While the conference will help media professionals understand the dynamics of the industry, Expo will provide them a platform to interact with the world’s leading vendors of products and services to the newspaper and publishing industry,” he said.
Over 100 of the world’s leading suppliers to the newspaper publishing industry such Adobe, Agfa, Fuji Photo Film, Kodak, MAN Roland, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Nippon, Siemens Information Systems, PPI among others are taking part in the expo and there will be a large Indian presence too.
Over 3,000 people are expected to visit the expo.
The entry to the expo is free for printers, publishers, production executives from newspapers and advertising agencies, software domain specialists and students and faculty members from printing institutes.
However, they will have to produce their business cards or proof of identity.
Ifra India Executive Director K.Z. Magdoom Mohamed said the expo would also have a Solution Park, a professional knowledge-sharing platform where speakers would highlight the latest products, processes, solutions and market trends in the publishing and media industry.
Entry to the Solution Park is free and it is open to delegates as well as to visitors.
The expo will also feature Ifra Newsplex, the multimedia newsroom of the future and an exhibition on the 400-year history of printing.
The exhibition will track the progress of newspaper printing technology and from the letterpress to the e-newspaper, though pictures and video presentation.
