Chandigarh: Punjab will soon have a civil aviation university to train personnel in this field now that the civil aviation sector is heading for a boom with a tremendous employment potential, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said here on Friday.

Punjab will be the first State in the country to have a university for civil aviation.

In his inaugural address at a workshop on ‘Punjab strategy of human resource development -- Employment generation and training’, he said services of eminent consultants and key players in the field of civil aviation would be engaged for preparing the blueprint of the proposed university.

Modalities would be worked out with the Union Ministries of Civil Aviation and Human Resource Development for setting up the university, he added.

Mr. Badal announced that the State Government would make provision for creation of one lakh employment opportunities every year for the youth of the State.

He asked the captains of industry in the State to run the ITIs to train the work force required by them according to their needs. He added that trained work force in textiles, garments, automobiles, hand tools and agro processing could be gainfully employed in these industries. --PTI.
